Shavuot at Gan Avraham Preschool

We had a great celebration of Shavuot today at Gan Avraham Jewish preschool in Oakland.  Shavuot is the holiday which celebrates both the receiving of the Torah at Mount Sinai and the bringing of first fruits to the ancient Temple.

First, children, made their own commandments.

Next we celebrated with children bringing "first fruits."
Hold up those first fruits!

Then, Rabbi Bloom showed them the 10 Commandments in the actual Torah in the main sanctuary.

Celebrating Israel's Birthday

Yom Ha'atzmaut

Yom Ha'atzmaut is Israeli Independence Day, which in preschool, we call, simply, Israel's birthday.
Our students are enjoying the favorite Israeli fast food, Felafel with Israeli salad and hummus.

Not much left!
